What the title says. I have already accumulated a bunch of ideas of what I could potentially blog about, but aside from one I can be pretty sure that I never will end up doing them.
Without further ado:
- I think that the seifuku of 20 Mensou no Musume is one of the best - not because of the design, but because of the fact that the uniform is beige, not white.
- It’s sad that nobody seems to watch Gunslinger Girl - il teatrino anymore, except for Hanners and me. The manga is still brilliant though. (Rossana! <3)
- Episodic anime are great because you can make episode rankings at the end. I love most of them: Mushishi, Darker than Black, Natsume Yuujinchou, even Shigofumi. Not to forget all the comedies: Hidamari Sketch, Minami-ke, Ichigo Mashimaro, Lucky Star etc.
- Speaking of Shigofumi, I finished watching it in one go finally. It was just like everybody said: The ending was pretty horrible, but some of the stories (episodes 1, 2, 4, 5, 9 and 10) were quite nice. In fact, I felt like crying when I saw episode 9, Chiaki’s background story.
- I am thinking of making the pizza you see in Code Geass recently. The border looks immensely delicious. Picture will be linked if I ever come around to do it. I don’t care for Nunnally banzai anymore though, only SuzuxLuluko pictures.
- I have re-worked my MAL recently. As you can see, the ratings I give now are really harsh to make it easier for myself and for others to distinguish my preferences. However, if I give a 6, it means that I have enjoyed the show a lot and if I give a 5, it means that I think it was good and mostly recommendable. Mainly this is because I could never be bothered to watch a show that I find really good anymore and I don’t want my list to be overflown with 8 and 7.
- Bakuman, the new manga by the Death Note duo, is actually good! It’s not as ’smart’ in the same way as Death Note and didn’t have such a strong start though. I especially liked the theory that really smart girls are those who appear helpless and cute. However, I don’t know any of these girls in my environment. It seems the society around me is emancipated enough so that girls don’t have to disguise themselves as stupid to achieve happiness.
- I seem to be the only person in the world who feels sorry for the main character of Detroit Metal City. It’s really funny and the adaptation of the manga is brilliant (yay Studio 4°C!) but sometimes I just with for everyone to leave that poor guy alone. Sadly, this is somewhat detrimental to my enjoyment of the actually great series.
- After seeing this posting, I am really looking forward to Shangri-La now. Now I hope Gonzo doesn’t go onto another Mardock Scramble on us. You cannot believe how RAGE I was when I heard that they cancelled Mardock Scramble.

Excellent, an update post! ^_^
I was watching the second season of Gunslinger Girl but it’s ‘on hold’ at the moment, awaiting the release of the DVD (the same goes for Darker than Black and Gurren Lagann). It’s not as well animated as the first but as far as the first half is concerned, the storytelling is still of a very high standard. I’m looking forward to seeing it through to the end.
Not much else to say really, since you and I seem to be watching similar shows! I never did get into Shigofumi though - perhaps a rewatch when that hits DVD too might make me look more kindly on it.
Posted 09 Sep 2008 at 23:11 CE(S)T ¶@Ryan A: Honestly, before I wrote this post, I didn’t even realize how much anime I was actually watching recently!
@Martin:
Nice to see you here again! I hope you will enjoy Darker than Black, Gurren Lagann and Gunslinger Girl when they come out. I liked all of them a lot, and regarding Gunslinger Girl, I actually have taken a special liking to the soundtrack somehow.
Posted 10 Sep 2008 at 15:28 CE(S)T ¶Shigofumi, ah! Like most people, I have liked the first two episodes a lot and later, the episodes varied greatly in quality later on. While I heartily recommend episodes 5, 9 and 10, I have found the main story to be quite bland. Shigofumi just cries “great idea that could have been much better executed” to me. ^^;;
Great to see in back in the driving seat Sasa.
Have yet to watch pass ep1 of Gunslinger Girl 2. It’s back there in the pile of backlog with dozens of other series, as usual…
Agree with you on Shigofumi. Ending was a downer (due to fact that I watched last 3 eps 4 months after the previous ep) I prefer the darker tone than the feel “good” Shinigami No Ballad.
Discovered DMC recently and the style reminded me of another excellent underated series, “Gaghyu Manga Biyori”. Same author/animator perhaps?
Looking forward to your ever so insightful posts.
Posted 11 Sep 2008 at 03:21 CE(S)T ¶Bakuman sounds interesting. Is it only manga form or are there plans for anime? I tend to gravitate towards the latter.. ^^;
Posted 13 Sep 2008 at 02:14 CE(S)T ¶I still watch GSG! Even though it’s not really GSG if you know what I mean.
I am looking forward to Shangri-La since I am a big fan of Range Murata (got a few of his LE artbooks and ROBOTS ones) and not to forget Last Exile and Blue Submarine 6 were reasonably good. Having said that though, it is Gonzo we are talking about…
Posted 16 Sep 2008 at 20:35 CE(S)T ¶I actually feel sorry for the main character in DMC too, but he has a pretty bad case of split personalities and heavy obligations, so…well…no helping it.
One thing though, Shigofumi I felt, ended on a “I need more Fumika and Kanaka cat misadventures” note. Not necessarily bad, it just leaves a very….empty feeling in your heart.
Posted 19 Sep 2008 at 15:34 CE(S)T ¶@MrMayat: Thank you, but I seriously don’t think there will be all too many new posting to come. Perhaps once every 2 months? Heh.
It’s not really the problem that it was not as dark as expected, the main story was just bland and I ended up not caring much for the characters at all.
@Caitlin: It’s a manga, but if it continues to be this good, I think there will be an anime adaptation one day or another ^^ Basically it’s a story about two boys striving to become mangakas - and not too badly done.
@RK: Yeah, the show totally does not do justice to the original, but that’s okay. It’s only 4 more episodes anyways.
Last Exile was by Gonzo and it was good, so I don’t see why Shangri-La would not make it possible for Gonzo to go back to their glorious days *g*
@C.I.: *highfives for DMC*
Posted 19 Sep 2008 at 16:01 CE(S)T ¶Concerning Shigofumi: Well, there is an OVA and since that one will be comparably short, I think we can hope for some more “Fumika + Kanaka cat misadventures”. ^^
looking forward to Bakuman. woot
