So, Haesslich was right, I have to write about episode 05 of Macross Frontier since it just rocks so damn hard. For all of you that haven´t seen it or are waiting for the subs. Don´t continue to read on since it´ll pretty much spoil the whole episode for you. It´s that good!!
Ranka apparently have to quite school because she entered the Miss Macross competition and Ozma isn´t to pleased about it…
edit - as Kurogane said, suspended from school. I made it a lot worse than it should have been. And now when I think back about it how could I have written “had to quit” school?`… I´ll have to restrain myself from now on to so I can get the subs. Thanks Kurogane for righting my wrongs.
Well, if I understand it correctly Ozma tells Ranka she can´t sing, and well every little girl think they are all grown up and can do various things so of course she´s going to get sad and scream at her brother: Onii-chan no BAKA while throwing everything she can find and then run of from the house.
Meanwhile our dear Altoh Hime is having trouble with Sheryl… I do want to know what they intend to do in the changing room of the guys… is Sheryl that kinky?
Hm, I can see the headlines, young pilot trainee and superstar in guys chaning room doing indecent things…
Sorry, couldn´t catch the fast paced images, but Altoh thinks of a pretty good idea, take Sheryl and drag her into the locker and close the door. I´m always amazed at how big these lockers seems to be. They can fit two persons in there.
Oh, apparently Altoh is a healthy young man 
with a lot of hormones going trough his body. And Sheryl as well You don´t breathe into a guys ear if you don´t want him. Or so I´ve heard.
Dammit, this is just 3mins in the ep so you might guess that it´s a really good ep if I´ve already taken this many screencaps…
I wonder if Altoh´s classes have started yet?
Poor Ranka, she doesn´t know she´s being two timed by Altoh. Poor girl.
Only one thing that is missing here, a cigar for Altoh to smoke… must have been hard satisfying Sheryl in there.
Apparently Sheryl didn´t get enough of Altohs love in the locker so she wants more.
I have to say they´ve made Sheryl look absolutely brilliant this ep. She goes from being embarrassed to happy to angry and pretty much all emotions there is. She just looks great in this ep.
And I can´t really figure her out either. There has to be something the she likes in Altoh, but I don´t know what. Otherwise she´d just be her old tsundere mode and demand, not ask. She is demanding but not that demanding as she was in the first ep.

Ranka on the other hand is getting told of by Mikhail that she shouldn´t let her singing career take over since she´s not that good and reminds her of a Zentradi who was singing and noone noticed him. Mikhail also dares Ranka to stand in front of everyone and sing, the obvious result would be that noone would stop and listen to her.
And yes, noone will stop and listen to you if you don´t start singing Ranka. I thought you understood that much…
After she does start singing everyone stops to listen to her. Even Altoh that just happened to be in the neighourhood stops by…
I understand why. It´s a great song. To bad I didn´t find it on youtube so everyone could listen to it. All I can say is that it is wonderful to listen to and I can´t wait for the OSTs to be released.
The bad thing with Ranka singing is that once again the Vajra will attack the Macross Frontier Fleet…
And the EP ends with a single fighter defolding asking the Frontier Fleet for help.
Looks like I´ll have to keep writting about Macross Frontier if this keeps up. It´s just to good to be left alone.

All the others, well it isn´t about what´s happening but rather my own writting to make it a little fun.
It feels like something like that as well. With Ranka being the big queen that gives energy to the Vajra when she sings.

The next episode promises some more Sheryl time, so manga will have to blog that too.
And it’s because Ozma seems rather dismissive about the whole idol thing in general, which is why he tells her she shouldn’t be singing… which is kinda odd, given that idol singers were what saved the human race the first time. And he gives him the predictable response being both a young girl as well as part-Zentran. But this distaste for idol singers may also have to do with the Vajra, and what he knows of them… which may ALSO be why Leon seems to have killed Ranka’s chances in the Miss Macross competition.
You missed Klan Klein being dressed like Haruka-neesama in her school uniform. For that this post fails. That, and needed more shots of Sheryl watching Ranka singing. And Mikhail running when he saw Klein staring at his back with the Haruka-banchou expression.

I do like Klein Klan, but not as much as Sheryl/Ranka so if she doesn´t do anything really good there will probably not be footage of her :p

If I would have taken screencaps of Sheryl watching Ranka I´d have to write something about it, and I´m even more “not understanding what they are saying” there than with Ranka being suspended. I think Sheryl says with grim eyes “On her own” but I´m not sure and therefore I don´t really want to write it down… not that it stopped me before but oh well. Got to draw the line somewhere.

And Klein Klan’s a highlight of the show for me, on top of the others.. since you know she won’t be involved in the romantic triangle, but could probably serve as a brake on the excesses SOME people might engage in otherwise.
Or, y’know, she could get Miclonized and make things worse…
