So, I´m back, and everyone knows what that means right? More stuff that isn´t really SFW, ecchi screenshoots and thoughts about episodes. The weird thing is that I thought I wasn´t going to do this kind of blogging. But it just keeps comming and comming, that and it´s somewhat fun to do as well.
And with people misstaking me for Sasa then I can just tilt my head upwards since I think she writes extremely well, but rarely :p
Anyway(man I really like to use that word don´t I?) hit the jump for my second thoughts on Macross Frontier, since writting about three shows in a row at 2eps a show will get your eyes burning. And it will turn boring to read as well. I´ll try to write something about Kanokon and Code Geass R2 later today. But for now you´ll have to be satisfied with Macross Frontier.
I won´t be bloging more Macross Frontier after this though, the one thing that might appear later is if something of oh my god this is great proportion appears(like Kyou from Clannad in the locker room.)
Macross Frontier 02
Do you remember that I said Macross Frontier used a lot from the previous series? Well it continues. Following the standard we have to have a 
dramatic rescue.
I wonder what Ozma was thinking here when he hovers over the fight and tells no noone: “That´s not Gilliam! Who is it?” instead of helping…
Rule number one when flying and attacking, don´t waste the ammo by shooting into thin air, keep hitting the damn enemy instead of the air which hasn´t done anything to you!!
Now all we need is for Ranka to get the courage to join the Miss Macross competition and we have a new Minmei from the first ep, she was saved by the hero, then picked up by the robotic arm and well… I´ll just let some images do the talking.
Alright, I have a confession to make, Hikaru wasn´t Mimeis brother and Altoh isn´t Ranka´s brother, so that´s a new thing 
But what a thing to say to a almost complete stranger. I don´t know what other would think but I think Ranka has something of a brother complex Not that it is a bad thing thoug, just keeps this shows love triangel more intresting.
Rule number 2 when flying: SIT STILL IN THE COCKPIT IF YOU DON`T WANT YOUR BREASTS GRABBED!!
damn these girls who just want to move around. It isn´t a carrier plane you know.
Getting a thril out of killing aliens? Not a good reaction if you ask me, even if it is up close and personal with a knife. And that makes me wonder, who the hell equips a plane with a short bladed knife?
What makes me wonder even more is how the hell do Idols in anime think that by wearing a pair of sunglasses and a hat and noone will know who they are? It feels kinda stupid. But I do like that Sheryl has taken a liking to Ranka and gives her all kind of advice.
But the whole thing is: From the looks of it, it´s going to be a really good show!!
And it went and got a lot more screencaps than I thought it would, so I´ll have to cut down on them for the next ep.
Macross Frontier 03
Which is more fun and games since it takes the next Macross cliché, getting stuck in a small space with the Minmei of the show. In this ep Altoh, Sheryl and Ranka get caught in a small space thanks to the Vajra attack that started at the end of the previous ep. And it was a good thing they did, either die from suffocation in vacuum or get stuck in a small space.
It tends to get hot when you´re in a closed space with no fresh air suply.
Was it that hot so you had to strip?
You think you got away? Think again!!
It was quite a nice comparison, Altoh getting bitchslapped and an explosion

How to break up a fight? By getting them to eat!!
She might not be the most clever of them, but oh how sweet and caring she is, she even wants them to continue fighting so she offers them some nutrition.
How can she expect any guy to do that? Oh wait, so this is ok? Great!

All clichés from Macross have been cleared!!
Man, I must continue to watch this show, great music, great ladies, great characters, sniper mechas and now Altoh is going to get trained? Things are going to be fun!!
Now all I need is to hear Ranka sing with lyrics that they can translate. Maybe one of Sheryls songs? And I forgot to mention, Macross 7 makes a slight cameo apperance in EP2 with the song Totsugeki Love Heart, not the song I would have choosed but oh well.

I see you’ve caught up - and this feels like a retelling of the original series the way that SEED was the retelling of the original story, but (so far) a better execution. Ranka is rather sweet and earnest, which is probably why Sheryl’s encouraging her to chase her dreams. Heck, even Alto gets knocked out of his cynical mode in the face of it.
And as far as Ranka’s brother complex goes, I suspect it has much to do with the flashback and the past Ozma mentions… which means there’s a new element to the story already.

But oh god, how much I love this show!!
And I´m not going to be able to write something for either Kanokon or Code Geass R2 today. Might come up early tomorrow morning :p tired since it´s been a full day with school, soccer and now I´m pretty damn tired.
And I´ve watched the episodes about as fast as the subs got out, Ep2 I even watched RAW so I´ve seen them, just haven´t written about them.
But oh well, this is probably the final post about MF, if there isn´t more sweet Ranka or Sheryl fanservice
The next episode looks like it might get some screencaps taken as well…
Posted 23 Apr 2008 at 20:38 CE(S)T ¶Well, I could drag in the ‘real life’ argument about how vivid images can stay in a child’s mind even if they’ve forgotten about the event in question and bring back much emotional trauma… but I won’t.
As for Ranka and Sheryl fanservice? I don’t think they’re going to avoid it in favour of heavy mecha action, unlike some shows (Gundam 00), just because the love triangles and the human relationships which aren’t based in yaoi pairings are important to Macross (unlike say, Gundam series of recent years, Code Geass).

Sofar I think they´ve done a fine job mixing in fanservice with mecha battles. It doesn´t have to get any bigger than this really. It´s just fine the way it is.
They´ve already pointed out that Altoh is a “princess” and well Mikhail loves to tease him… we got a yaoi pairing right there… or Luca with his dear “sempai”…
Lots of possibilities in any direction really.

And as for that, it seems more they’re trying to recreate the dynamic between Hikaru and Maxamillian Jenius (Mikhail) than anything else, with Luca being there mostly to appeal to the few fangirls of the series. There’s way less yaoi vibes from any of them than say… Rollo and Lelouch, Suzaku and Lelouch, or Tieria and Lockon… or for that matter, anyone in Gundam 00 except for a certain reporter’s brother.

And yes, that comparison is great with Hikaru and Max.
Little yaoi vibes yes, but still aparent. Not as much as with those you mention though.
I just can´t wait to the next ep gets released, I want to watch it now!!
Posted 24 Apr 2008 at 01:06 CE(S)T ¶Well, the two-piece, from what we could see of it, doesn’t fit Ranka. A one-piece which could be cute… well, the back of the suit doesn’t look so good right now. And Mikhail has that ‘better than Alto, so he can be somewhat critical of his skills, plus he wears glasses’ Jenius thing going.
As for yaoi vibes, fangirls will find it anywhere. Ozma and Alto would probably be better fodder for it, just because of their combative relationship so far. Just imagine that scene from Lucky Star the anime where Kagamin ran across that doujin (’Chained’) involving Gauron and Sousuke.

This is not true. Shooting into the air has real value in tactical combat. It’s called SUPPRESSIVE FIRE.

We use this tactics a lots too in counterstrike too: Grenades are not meant to kill anyone but to drive hidden enemies out.
Posted 24 Apr 2008 at 02:42 CE(S)T ¶Haesslich: I agree with the yaoi vibes, Jenius and all those points but I didn´t focos on Ranka´s two piece when I watched the preview so I can´t say anything there. Just have to wait… sadly.
bakaneko: Well, I haven´t been flying any planes and fired stuff so I don´t have the real experience, what I do think is in Aloth´s case it would have been way better to conserve the ammo and not waste it, he did drive the Vajra away so I guess he succeeded.
And Suppressive fire is supposed to be done with only one single person? All I see is that it is a tactic for multiple persons to use. Which would make a helluva lot more sense than having one person shooting like crazy wasting all bullets instead of trying to get a killing shoot and more than so saving the girl he wanted to save in the first place.
But if Altoh had Mikhail lurking and trying to get into a good sniper position or Ozma trying to advance on the Vajra THEN it would have been a good call, now when he´s out of ammo he´s a freaking sitting duck… and if it weren´t for Ozma, bye bye Altoh…
See the difference in what I want to see him do and suppressive fire?
