AFA 08: Day 2 Journal

Day 1 had me walking around the venue numerous times. Day 2 on the other hand was mostly a waiting game. I reached around 1100hrs to photograph any items I missed out yesterday. Thankfully, the crowd was at bay. I whittled away the time at the Industry Seminar area while waiting for the Cosplay Mania event to start at the main stage.

Impressive line-up for free seminars. Audience was mainly studying/working in the animation industry.

AFA 08: Day 1 Journal

What self respecting animeblog doesn’t have an anime convention coverage these days? That said, Sasa flew me all the way to Singapore’s first large scale anime convention, Animation Festival Asia 2008. (Oh wait, it’s only a 30min train ride from my place)

Time: 1100hrs

Place: Suntec Convention Center Lvl 4

First Impression: Long Line is long

Even though I was pre-registered, I waited in line for 15 mins, which wasn’t that long in fact. (Turns out that that they didn’t even check my pre-registration code) The first thing that greeted me at the entrance was the huge-ass Gundam Exia model. A slight tilt the right, a long line of gundam otaku were lining up to pay for their purchases.

The Vector Factor: A Tale Of Two Taiga’s

No editorials or insights this time around. Just a simple vector trace that I do in my spare time. I’m not aiming for perfection, but I do what I can. Without further ado, I present to you Taiga from Toradora! In her tiger persona, anyway. Enjoy.

The room chronicles: Move along. Nothing to see here…

What defines an otaku’s room? A wallpaper of bishoujo posters/wallscrolls? A bookshelf full of manga/dojinshi? Figurines resting on every available flat surface? Or simply the non-existence of style? My fellow co-bloggers have shown varying stages of otakudom. You could call my room as being threadbare of all signs of otakudom a.k.a a closet otaku. You be the judge.

Disclaimers are your best friends

Seeing as to Os has flown the coop, it’s time for me to re-enter the scene. I’m not one who’s prone to fanboying or RAGE posts, so you might find my writing a tad dry. (Not to mention that I haven’t written anything anime-ish for about a year)

Disclaimer: This post makes no sense.
Now that you’ve read that, it’s up to you to venture forth… or not.

Guestpost: The Neck Bone Is Connected To The…

…spinal cord naturally. But if you’re anything like the stereotypical harem lead/ otaku, you’ll be classified as an invertebrate. A staple diet of rom(antic)-com(edy) anime series in the late 90’s and early 00’s (I wonder how historians define that era…) would affirm with the casual viewer that spineless lead=instant harem.

Guestpost: Does This Make Me Look Fat?

Sorry for intruding… I’m MrMayat, one of Sasa’s “harem” of guestbloggers. I run a monthly updated “anime” blog of sorts. (Note the use of ” “. For those of you who want the link, it’s in the blogroll. Go figure.)

*Cue obligatory introduction*

I hail from the anime persecuting loving island of Singapore. As a working class stiff, I don’t update as often as other school going bloggers. Plus, lack of practice in essay writing, has made my writing skills go to rot. Thus, I apologise for any brain haemorrhaging while reading my posts.
*Ehem* I am an ardent fan of shoujo/josei and other “girly” anime/manga, however, I don’t count myself as a SNAG. (that is so.. 90’s) There aren’t many guys in the blogoshere willing to admit their love of “girly” anime/manga. Thus, I will bring a guys perspective into the woman-dominated world of shoujo. Here’s a post to kick things off.
